Privacy Policy
How Overtone handles your information, on our website and on every module we ship.
Last updated: October 30, 2026
Overview
Overtone builds the hearing layer for robotics. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and our modules, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Privacy is built into the product itself: Overtone modules process sound on their own compute, and raw audio never leaves the module.
Audio processed by Overtone modules
Each Overtone module captures and processes audio locally. Recordings are not stored and are not sent to Overtone or to any third party.
Your robot only receives the results of that processing, such as sound events, direction and distance, and recognized commands. That output stays within your own systems unless you choose to share it.
Information we collect
We collect a limited amount of information when you interact with us:
- Contact details you send us, such as your name, email address, company, and message when you fill out our contact form.
- Basic usage data from our website, such as pages visited, browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Device diagnostics you choose to share with our team when requesting support, such as firmware version and error logs.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions, demo requests, and support tickets.
- Operate, secure, and improve our website and products.
- Send product updates when you have asked to receive them.
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain uses of it.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. Because audio is processed on the module itself, the most sensitive data never reaches our servers in the first place.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know directly.
